Has your robotics team mastered all the skills, and now you're ready to take it to the next level? Then you need to consider a Single Day Design Challenge!

How it works:

1. In the morning, your team will be shown the challenge and provided with rules and resources. 
2. You have a few hours to design and build a robot to the specifications of the event.  You will work from drawings, a set of field objects, and practice sessions.
3. In the afternoon, you'll have two 10-minute competitions, with an hour in the middle to modify your design.
4. Wait for the results and have the opportunity to possibly win cash rewards

 That's it, build to spec in the morning, compete in the afternoon! Judges will score on performance, design, creativity, documentation and rapid deployment. Your event may include cash rewards.

On August 24, 2019, sixteen teams from NJ, PA, MD, WV, and VA, joined a pilot event called "Single Day Design." These remarkable 9-16 year olds, using LEGO EV3 systems, had just four hours to solve a tough challenge before competing in the afternoon. It was astounding. Every team worked with extreme intensity and delivered a solution. Remarkable solutions. Over the next few days will have more photos and professional video. But here's a preview of the excitement that filled the day.

In a Single Day Design event teams have 4 hours to build and test a solution before competing in the afternoon for cash prizes.

The 2019 challenge focuses on the manufacturing processes.

Teams will have to move items from the supplier, to the storage, to assembly, to packaging, to transportation and then drone delivery.

The final challenge is to connect the utilities. All the challenge elements are common items found at a hardware store. These tasks serve to demonstrate the complexities of manufacturing and amazing process that produce trillions of well made, accurate items every day world-wide.
