Details

Edison is a robust educational robot designed to bring coding to life for students and help teachers deliver meaningful 21st-century education.

Edison is a programmable robot designed to be a complete STEM teaching resource for coding and robotics education for students from 4 to 16 years of age. Edison empowers students to become not just coders, but inventors, problem solvers, and creative thinkers. More than a robot, Edison's sensors and expandable build system open up pathways for learning across maths, science, critical thinking, engineering, design thinking, and more. There are no ongoing fees with Edison: all three robot programming software languages are free for unlimited users!

Designed specifically for the classroom environment, Edison robots are durable, have no loose parts to manage, and are simple to store.

Edison's robotic capabilities can be unlocked with ease through simple barcode programs. Students can then progress through three different programming languages as their skills increase.

  • Ages 4+: Edison scans unique barcodes to activate pre-set programs in the robot – the perfect screen-free way for anyone to kick-start learning with Edison.
  • Ages 7+: Intuitive and fun, EdBlocks is a fully graphical programming language that uses simple drag-and-drop blocks, making it ideal for introducing anyone to programming.
  • Ages 10+: Easy drag-and-drop programming with powerful functionality and versatility, EdScratch is a robust platform for computer science education.
  • Ages 13+: Text-based EdPy teaches students the core of a real-world programming language, empowering them to explore robotics and coding at a more advanced level.

Teaching coding, computational thinking, and STEAM using Edison robots is easy with our free teaching resources. All of the Edison programming languages have complementary teaching resources including lesson plans and teacher guides plus complete student activity-sheet sets. The student-centric lessons, written at grade-appropriate reading levels, encourage independent learning through engaging, hands-on activities.

  • Rechargeable: Now featuring a rechargeable internal battery for limitless learning adventures. Edison can be recharged via USB with any power source!
  • USB Programmable: Unleash creativity with programming via USB connectivity.
  • Bigger Microchip: Unleash new capabilities with an upgraded microcontroller for advanced, faster processing and more learning experiences.

Kick-start your exploration of Edison with barcodes

The special Edison robot barcodes let you kick-start your exploration of Edison using pre-set programs, control Edison like a remote-control car, or create your own remote-control programming masterpieces!

Barcode programming is a great place to get started with Edison which is why barcodes are included as an early activity in all of the Edison lesson plans. Using barcodes with Edison robots is one of the most unique and fun ways to use your robot. Even if you are brand new to Edison, getting started with barcodes is easy. Barcodes let anyone get started with Edison — no matter your coding experience!

Edison V3 - EdMat
Edison V3 - Follow a line

Get engaged with the activity mat

The EdMat activity mat is an A1 size (23in x 33in) mat perfect for getting started with Edison and for ongoing use as a test mat for all your Edison creations and programs.

The free-to-download EdMat is designed to make running robot activities such as line following and bounce in borders with Edison simple to set up and loads of fun. The EdMat includes six barcodes that activate pre-installed programs including ‘follow a torch’, ‘line tracking’ and ‘sumo wrestle’. Using EdMats in the classroom makes it easy to set up ‘robot testing stations’ for students to try out their programs.

What Educators are Saying About Geyer

Justin has been nothing but helpful and professional in my requests for these Boeing Defense requirements. He has been able to answer my questions and concerns quickly, and helped in securing the order that I may have made with another supplier had be not been the value-add that he is to your company. I hope his merit raise this FY was "exceeds expectations".

Jesse C.

..I contacted Geyer via email. I had an email back within minutes!.. A back and forth via email sometimes takes days with other companies and customer service doesn’t happen like this very often. When it does, it’s much appreciated. Brett at Geyer was very polite and accommodating!

John C.

The customer service rep went as far as to reach out to the manufacturer of a product to answer my question, and then provided pictures. She really went above and beyond and answered the question thoroughly and gave me exactly the information I was looking for. This entire process was also extremely fast.

Robert C.

I called to ask how to submit a Tax Exempt Certificate for my library and spoke to a real person, no automation or asking me to press a number. He was friendly, helpful and got our Tax Exempt status established immediately.

Mischelle F.

...I don't think I've ever experienced that level of customer service before, and taking it into consideration along with the quality of their products, I would absolutely recommend Geyer to fellow teachers.
