NATIONAL

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

The AIAA Foundation thinks that providing grants to address students' educational needs, which have not been met or funded, is a crucial way to motivate and promote the future of Aerospace. Every academic year, AIAA provides grants of a maximum of $500 to deserving projects that have a substantial impact on student education.

Grant Rules

The grant proposal must include a strong link to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) with a focus on Aerospace.

  • Candidates must be a K-12 educator and the funds will be given to the school.
  • Applicants must be current AIAA Educator Associate members prior to receiving this grant.
  • Educator Association membership information
  • Each school is limited to up to 2 grants per calendar year.
  • Funds must be spent on the items proposed in the original application.

Funding will be considered for the following materials

  • Classroom STEM demonstration kits
  • Classroom STEM supplies
  • K-12 STEM software
  • Math manipulative materials
  • Parts and supplies for making flying objects
  • Parts and supplies for robotics programs

The STEM Action Grant program offers up to $5,000 in small grants to creative nonprofit organizations run by social entrepreneurs.

The STEM Action Grant program seeks to strengthen and aid nonprofit organizations driven by the community that are dedicated to improving public knowledge of science and promoting greater involvement of underrepresented groups in STEM fields. Since 2016, more than $828,000 has been granted by the STEM Action Grant program to 113 organizations seeking to enhance STEM education accessibility.

Ciena Teaching Grant

The Ciena Grants are established to support classroom teachers with the implementation of innovative and engaging science technology engineering and math (STEM) programs, activities, and technology (software and hardware) to promote learning and digital equality.

The Ciena grant program will award deserving teachers in the DC metro area, DoDEA schools, and schools in all 50 states with grants up to $3,000. The grants will be applied toward materials and resources to support STEM programs and activities. Schools with high economic need (over 50 percent of the students qualifying for free or reduced lunch assistance) will be given priority consideration to support digital equality. Innovative distance and virtual learning projects and programs will be considered.

Applicants must:

  • Currently be teaching science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) in grades K-12 in the United States or at any DoDEA school.
  • Currently be teaching in one of the specific areas supported by the grant: DC metro area school, DoDEA school, or in any of the 50 US states.

They back educational programming by non-profit organizations that provide access to knowledge and empower students and teachers in communities nationwide, emphasizing STEM education. Emphasis is placed on programs held during school hours, as well as those offered after school and in the summer, along with technical training and academic programs that enhance or support school curriculums.

  • Developing fair access for marginalized communities. The initiatives will guarantee that all people can access STEM. This will be true despite their gender or wealth. They will have access to resources, services, and programs. This involves improving access for racial and ethnic minorities. It also includes students with disabilities and girls in K-12. It also involves other underrepresented groups.
  • The initiatives give students tools to think innovatively and autonomously. They help students tackle obstacles or issues.
  • Advancing Education & Career Paths to Motivate Next-Generation Leaders: These initiatives offer more chances to learn, like mentorship. They help students advance their education in STEM fields

Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association International (AFCEA), Alamo Chapter
The Alamo AFCEA Scholarships and Grants program oversees the Alamo AFCEA Education Foundation (AAEF), a certified 501(c)3 Chapter-affiliated organization. AAEF is dedicated to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines at all academic levels.

The Teaching Tool Grants provide additional funding for educators to purchase classroom STEM tools. AAEF requests the tools are durable and reusable.
