Students will create their own glow-in-the-dark slime and decorate it with googly eyes and other craft materials to make "monsters." This project encourages sensory exploration and creativity while making a fun Halloween-themed keepsake.

Materials (per student):

  1. Elmer’s Glow-in-the-Dark Glue (5oz) – $4-$6 (depending on pack size)
  2. Baking Soda (1/2 tsp) – less than $0.01
  3. Contact Lens Solution (1 tbsp) – around $0.10
  4. Googly Eyes (pack for the class) – about $1 per student
  5. Small plastic containers (optional, to take the slime home) – $0.25 each
  6. Optional Halloween-themed accessories (like mini spiders, foam cutouts, etc.) – less than $1 per student

Instructions:

  1. Give each student a bottle of Elmer’s Glow-in-the-Dark Glue.
  2. Instruct students to pour the glue into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add ½ teaspoon of baking soda to the glue and mix well.
  4. Slowly add 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution while stirring until the mixture becomes slime.
  5. Once the slime forms, students can decorate it with googly eyes and small Halloween-themed accessories to create their "monsters."
  6. Students can play with their monsters and store them in plastic containers to take home.
